Video for the Oil and Gas Industry
In the oil and gas industry, the construction of a module may take place many miles away from the place of its design.
In the design and construction process there may be problem areas or parts that are difficult to construct. Sometimes project design teams are given a set of photographs, but this does not always provide enough information and can take people a while to equate the right image with the problem.
Video can be a useful tool in the process as it can highlight any problem areas more effectively than photographs. It adds context and explains situations.
At Almond Productions we have previously provided video footage that has enabled our clients to see their work in this detail. One of these examples was the video we shot of The Bonga FPSO for Amec and Shell during the completion of the topside installation on Tyneside. (FPSO stands for Floating Production Storage and Offloading. It is a floating vessel used by the offshore oil and gas industry)
One of the other key events in the construction of FPSO’s is the actual load out, where the completed platform may be loaded onto a barge to be taken to its destination. As this happens at the construction site this is again something that quite often those who have been key players at the design stage do not always get to see. At Almond Productions we have provided video of such events that have been used to celebrate and promote the efforts of all those involved in the complex process from design to construction.
